It highlights the need to also consider the products we use and there overall impact on the environment. .. so where does wood sit in this?
Overall the fact it's renewable and stores carbon provide strong environmental credentials... the key is to ensure the trees have absorbed as much carbon as they can through their growth cycle before they reach their peak, begin to decay and are harvested. It also matters where the trees come from i.e. are the forest's native (and we hope protected) or plantation (and there for harvesting and replanting).
Artists are also constantly using offcuts ensuring these don't go into the waste stream.
